Ummm...I'm actually a few years older than some (more for people whom are still teens), so my view on this comes from mostly experience. To be absolutely honest, anarchy was a step away from the "conforming" people. Those who DID actually wear suits, ties, and clothes that fit just enough to not need a belt, had a respectable hair cut, didn't listen to overbearing music or make crude jokes at the wrong time. These are the conformist (and yes, back then they were called tight pants, or more specifically "highwaters" or "flood pants").
People who were anarchists wore the exact opposite. Baggy jeans, boots instead of work shoes or sneakers, had unkempt hair or scruffy faces, listened to loud music (no matter the genre, though mostly grunge or rock), and made crude jokes at the wrong times, especially towards the conformists.
Me? I don't personally like preps or people that flaunt their money. No offense Merc, but anyone that flashes their money (even if provoked) when they originally came from the struggle is labeled as someone who "forgot where they came from". Now, I'm not saying that to tell you how to spend your money. All I'm saying is Delinquent was correct in his assessment on Anarchy vs. Conformists.
But to be completely honest, WE ALL ARE CONFORMISTS. Think about it. Different genres of music for example. Have you EVER seen a country/western singer jump out on stage with baggy jeans, a thick ass chain, and some fresh shoes? Have you ever seen a hip hop artist wear cowboy boots and a bolo tie? Fuck no. So tell me, when was the last time you saw something COMPLETELY ORIGINAL? NEVER. It's all been done before, from poodle skirts to greasers, everything under the sun has been done. That's like saying something is "New and improved"! How the FUCK can something be both new and improved? If it's new there's no improvement, if it's improved it's not new!
People have a personal preference, however everyone is just a copy of the generation before them (some with different variations, but the same as a whole).
To be honest, where I'm from, skinny/tight/whatever pants are for homosexuals. Again, no offense. Either that or "metrosexuals". Both words are purely gay. Any man that waxes their eyebrows and gets manicures just to make his nails look "pretty" is gay. Period. SWAG IS A GAY WORD THAT DOESN'T EXIST. Style I can understand. Swag = Gay.
